Chem-Milled SMT Stencils
Chemically-etched stencils have been around for a long time and still have a place in SMT printing. Photo Stencil has been chemically milling stencils for over 20 years. Many process enhancements have been made over this time period including trapezoidal apertures (1993 Vision Award at Surface Mount International), electropolishing (smoothing the inner aperture walls), and nickel plating (additional smoothing of the inner aperture walls). Although the Chemically-etched stencil is a mature technology, there are still many applications where it is an appropriate solution.
